If you are unable to make out the lettering on your coin here are a few of the most familiar emperors you are bound to find. Keep in mind that you may not find an exact match or you may, indeed have a coin of an emperor not on this collage. If your coin is too deteriorated you should at least be able to figure out a date range for when it was minted. For example, if the emperor on your bronze coin has a spiky crown the coin was likely minted between the years 250-300. If it has a diadem (like a pearl necklace around the head) you can be fairly sure it was made after the year 340 or so. Nickel-sized coins featuring "bull-necked" tough guys were a design exclusive to the Tetriarchal years between c.290 and c.320. So don't be discouraged if you're unable to positively ID your coin, it is both meaningful and impressive to know that your coin was made within a specific date range so many centuries ago.
